Sometime last year, Facebook said it was working on a feature that will charge its users to message people who are not in their friends list. Well, that feature is live and Facebook is charging users to message strangers for $1.
When I tried to reply back to a message sent me by a guy(an American) who had sent me a friend request the message i got was '' you are not connected to this guy on Facebook, so your message would normally get filtered to his other folder. You can..(as pictured above). Why should we pay to send message on Facebook? Facebook, however in a report, said that charging users to pay to send messages to people who thet are not connected to is a method to prevent spam.
You can by-pass the pay to message a friend by sending the message to his 'other folder'. But, remember he/she might not see the message because, it is less visible.
British users are paying more than 10 British pound($15) to message celebrities and other notable figures.
Would you pay to message someone on Facebook?
