Thorsten Heins ''Tablet will be useless for five years''

Blackberry CEO Thorsten Hein  is of the opinion that tablets will be useless for five years. He believes Tablet business is not a good fit, and so therefore, the firm won't venture into it. He backed it up with a claim that Blackberry will rule the mobile computing world in the next five years.
Guys, remember this same gentleman said last year that the company new operating system Blackberry 10 will obsolete the laptop for three years. I wonder how he can be so sure about this.

World Wide Web is 20 today

Today mark 20 years since British computer Scientist Tim Banner Lee created the World Wide Web(www). The first website was launched on 1993 to give test base instructions to educators on how to use the internet.
On April 30, 1993 the first website was updated, announcing that the newly born 'www' is available to the everyone. This mark great change in technology. You can attest to this fact.
To celebrate this special day, the first website has been restored after it went offline 20 years ago.
CERN, the firm behind the website said the website receives huge traffic, though it has loading issues. As at the time when WWW was made available to the public, there were 500 website. But recent report from CERN, proves that there are currently 630 million websites world wide. What a figure!!!

Woman duped into buying 'mirror' iPad.

On my way to Ikoyi yesterday, I ran into a woman who was  narrating to a man how she was duped into buying an iPad. Although, I have heard such cases before, but this particular story, personally, is really surprising.
According to her, the man approached her saying that he needed cash urgently and was ready to sell his N108,000($800) iPad for N45000($300). The woman saw that price was good so, she paid him the money. The man gave her the iPad without her checking to see what inside, and then drove off.
Immediately the man drove off, she opened the box and to her regret, it was not an iPad but instead, only a mirror. The box had an Apple logo on the front. This made to assume that the product inside was genuine.
Her long for cheap product made her fall for this scammer. I believe this should serve as a warning to those who expensive product from street vendors, simply because they come cheap.

Father of the 9-year-old boy who drove Ferrari 430 was arrested

How could he allow a minor let alone his 9-year-old son to drive his Ferrari 430. For the fact that he has fleet of cars, doesn't give me right to let his son to drive the car. He could get killed or kill someone.
Mohammed Nishan is a Indian millionaire, he is into tobacco and real estate business. He is the father of the boy who drove the Ferrari 430 three weeks ago. His wife Amal Nishan filmed when the minor was driving the car with his brother on the passenger seat.
On Monday, Police say they arrested Nishan for endangering his 9-year-old life. He was later released on bail.
According to him, his son was insisting to drive the F430 and, since it was his 9th birthday, he gave him the permission to do so. The mother story is even more surprising. She said ''we are proud of him. He has been driving since he was five'' she said. It was later disclosed that the boy had drove his father Bentley, Lamborghini and some other luxury cars owned by the father.
Can you imagine the mother statement ''he has been driving since he was five''.

Google would change the way we search by 2029

Google is looking forward to building a search engine that would change the way we search for information on the platform. It said through Ray Kurzwell, who joined Google last year, that the search giant would integrate a search that would pick up the exact keywords in the user mind when searching for information, base on the type of content the user search for.
Ray Kurzwell said in an interview with Wired that he foresee the vision come to reality by 2029. In his words ''search has moved beyond just finding keywords, but it still doesn't read all these billions of web pages and book pages for semantic content''. If by any chance that vision come to reality, computers would interact with humans. As such, we could ask more complex questions, since computers would already know the human minds.
Ray Kuzwell is optimistic that the vision will come to reality by 2029.
Ray is regarded as one of the world leading futurist. He won the National Media of Technology and Innovation award; the highest technology award in America.

Google Glass: how it came and affect lives

Sterner, second to right in 1996
Google Glass! Google Glass! yes!! it's all over the internet. We hear about it everyday. It is even the most discussed topic right in the U.S than gun control or gay marriage. How it should be used or price tag of the device. But who brought the idea of glass or wearable computing? was it Sergey Brin or Thad Starner?
For those who are unaware, Thad Starner introduced wearable computing. He first introduced it in 1993. He did not have the knowledge it would be a modern mainstream product.
Starner, during his days in high school, made his own personal wearable(very similar to Google's own Glass) back then in 1996 when he found he couldn't engaged in class. In order to be fully engaged, he made this wearable. The device helped him to store lecture notes and also helped him remember all that was taught. He

Facebook planning to build $1.5 billion data center in Altoona, Lowa

Earlier this year, it was rumored that multi-technology companies, including Apple planned to erect a huge data center in Altoona, Lowa. But today, reports reaching us proves that Facebook will build a huge data center in Lowa.
According to a confirmed source, the social media giant is planning to build a 1.4 million square feet data center in the small town. The project could possibly cost Facebook $1.5 billion.
Facebook already has two data centers in Forest City, N.C. Sweden and one in Lulea, Sweden; but those two are a bit smaller  when compared to this one.
Looks to me that our Facebook likes and photos are heading to a new home.

Survey: 19 per cent of U.S consumers likely to buy an Apple iWatch

A few months ago, there were rumours and speculations that Apple was building a smartwatch. A source then calls it an 'iWatch',' since most of Apple branded products starts with the letter 'I'. Then a few weeks later, we heard that Samsung, Google,LG  and recently joined Microsoft are building smartwatches. Which means, we have five different smartwatches to choose from.
However, base on consumers reactions, most of them say they would prefer a smartwatch made by Apple.
According to a recent survey conducted by ChangeWave Research on 1713 U.S consumers. it shows that 19 percent want an iWatch when it is made available. 4 per cent say they 'very likely' while an additional 15 per cent say 'somewhat likely'. By this, it shows that U.S consumers buy Apple's idea of developing a smartwatch.
One question, are you one of them?

NASA discovered three new planets that supports life.

NASA has discovered three new distant planet that it says supports life. It looks to me that Humans might eventually live Earth and settle there someday.
Red NASA press release below.
Two of the newly discovered planets orbit a star smaller and cooler than the sun. Kepler-62f is only 40 percent larger than Earth, making it the exoplanet closest to the size of our planet known in the habitable zone of another star. Kepler-62f is likely to have a rocky composition. Kepler-62e, orbits on the inner edge of the habitable zone and is roughly 60 percent larger than Earth.

The third planet, Kepler-69c, is 70 percent larger than the size of Earth, and orbits in the habitable zone of a star similar to our Sun. Astronomers are uncertain about the composition of Kepler-69c, but its orbit of 242 days around a Sun-like star resembles that of our neighboring planet Venus.

Google: you can't resell or loan Glass

After much excitement from the first would-be owners who finally bought Glass for $1500, the search giant is refusing users to resell or rent the wearable device out.
According to Google ‘terms of service’ concerning Glass, you are not permitted to resell, loan or even auction the device. If you do, Google has the rights to deactivate the device, no money back and no access to Glass. It beat my imagination that companies these days now have the rights to retain their products even after the consumer acquired them.
One would-be owner of Glass auctioned the device on eBay. After receiving the news, he halted the auction. The auction began at$5000, and with so many people trying to lay their hands on the device, it’s a lost opportunity to make $100,000 off something that only cost $1500.
Google knows when you resell or loan the device because each device is registered under the buyer’s Google accounts.

Shocking revelation: people spend more time on Tumblr than Twitter or Facebook.

This is so shocking to me. When I first read the news, I was like 'David are you serious?'. Facebook and Twitter have billions and millions of users all over the world, but when it comes to the number of times a visitor or member spend on a platform, Tumblr according to David, Facebook and Twitter are far behind.
In an interview with Paidcontent in NewYork, CEO of Tumblr David Karp said members spent 14 minutes per visit on the blogging platform.
The reason? well he said it's 'media'---what you need  to do before checking an email.
Few weeks ago, Tumblr hit 100.1 million blogs and more than 80.2 million blog post have created each day. It was ranked 9th most visited website in the U.S last year with 61.3 million local visitors and nearly 170 million visitors worldwide.
