MTN Nigeria and four other telecom operators such as Airtel, Etisalat Nigeria and Globacom have been fined a total of N22 million by the Nigeria Communications Communication, NCC for failing to adhere to ban on promotions and lotteries on their network.
According to Ms. Josephine Amuwa, Director of legal and regulatory services, NCC said MTN is to pay N10 million, Etisalat N6 million, while Globacom and Airtel are to pay N 2 million and N 4 million respectively. She also said all four operators are required to pay their respective sanctions amount within seven days of the notice.
