Don't buy a new PC or Mac before you read this

While summer break has just started for students across the country, that means that the all-important back-to-school shopping season is not far behind. And with it comes a flood of new or updated systems -- everything from traditional laptops and desktops to tablets and hybrids.
But before swiping your credit card on a new ultrabook, all-in-one, or convertible, you're going to want to dive a little deeper into the spec sheets. That's because the latest Intel CPU upgrade -- code named Haswell, but officially known as "fourth-generation Core i series" -- is offering significant battery life improvements in the first wave of laptops we've tested so far. So, unlike the more ho-hum Intel updates we've seen in years past, there's a real-world payoff in seeking out a Haswell-equipped laptop.
On the other hand, if battery life isn't a big concern -- if you're going for a desktop PC, or if you have a "desktop replacement" laptop

Apple MacBook Air Review

Apple's new 11- and 13-inch MacBook Air laptops, however, promise to go the distance with all-day battery life. Announced at Apple's WWDC conference earlier this month, the new laptops don't look any different from the outside, but on the inside they have been given complete makeovers with Intel's latest Haswell processors. They also now pack more storage for the price; the 11-inch model with 128 GB of storage, which previously only had 64 GB, starts at $999.
No, the new Airs aren't drastically different -- at least not to the naked eye -- but the small changes go a long way. Quite literally.
A Familiar, But Loved Design
The new MacBook Airs could be put on a police lineup with the old MacBook Airs and not even the best detective would be able to tell them apart. The exteriors of the laptops are indistinguishable from the previous versions. But that's not

Google Adsense: Celebrating 10 years of shared success

Ten years ago we launched AdSense to help publishers earn money by placing relevant ads on their websites. I can still remember the excitement and anticipation as AdSense went live that first day.
Our small team huddled together in a cramped conference room, and right away we saw that publishers were as excited about AdSense as we were.
Fast-forward 10 years, and AdSense has become a core part of Google’s advertising business. The AdSense community has grown to include more than 2 million publishers, and last year alone, publishers earned more than $7 billion from AdSense. AdSense is a community that thrives because of all the content creators we are so fortunate to partner with. Their stories inspire us to do our part to make AdSense great.

On this occasion, it’s especially inspiring to hear the stories of partners who have been with us since the very beginning—like a retiree in New Zealand who was able to pursue her dream of writing about her garden, a tech support expert in Colorado who can spend more time with his kids, and a theme park reviewer who now sends employees around the world to test and review rides—all thanks to money earned from AdSense.

As part of our 10th anniversary celebration, we hope you’ll tune into our live Hangout on Air today at 10 a.m. PDT (5 p.m. GMT) on the AdSense Google+ page. I look forward to joining several of our partners to share stories from the early days of AdSense, talk about how we’ve all grown since then, and discuss the future for publishers and online advertising. And if you want even more 10th anniversary celebration, just visit our AdSense 10th anniversary page at any time

Seriously these are the worst things about working for Facebook? Oh, come on! these are the best things we all wish for working for a company. Like Alexis Kleinman of Huffpost puts it ''these are just humblebrags''.

Earlier this year, Facebook was voted as the best place to work by its employees in a Glassdoor's annual survey. But some old and new employees are in agreement that the company is the worst place to work. Why? it's because Facebook offer too

Can Google Fly Its Internet Balloons Wherever It Wants?

The Internet is abuzzblog post:
with news of the first public flight tests in New Zealand of Google’s Project Loon, which aims to provide Internet access to underserved areas using a network of high-altitude balloons. As Google explained in a June 14
We believe that it might actually be possible to build a ring of balloons, flying around the globe on the stratospheric winds, that provides Internet access to the earth below. It’s very early days, but we’ve built a system that uses balloons, carried by the wind at altitudes twice as high as commercial planes, to beam Internet access to the ground at speeds similar to today’s 3G networks or faster. As a result, we hope balloons could become an option for connecting rural, remote, and underserved areas, and for helping with communications after natural disasters. The idea may sound a bit crazy—and

4 Quick and Simple SEO Moves

Most of SEO takes hard work: linkbuilding, generating good content, and establishing yourself as a trustworthy source in your space. But these four small moves can make a huge difference in how your company succeeds in presenting itself to search engines and to people.
1. Get a Google+ page
If you’re optimizing for Google, you’ll want to be listed on Google+. This gives you more than an opportunity to share your business with the (admittedly few) G+ users. You can also highlight important pages on your website, post a useful description of yourself, and show authorship of guest articles you’ve written on other outlets.
2. Check for broken links
Google’s Webmaster Tools lets you know whether your site has any server or 404 errors. This way, you can easily check to make sure that your site is functioning well and that Google is crawling and indexing it. Also, if you redirect a page to another site (301), use a tool like Open Site Explorer to find out who’s linking to the page, and ask them to update the link.
3. Use monthly archives and categories for your blog
If you’re using a WordPress theme that supports archives, enable them. An archive widget in your blog’s footer or sidebar helps connect your entire site, and keeps posts from becoming abandoned. Categories offer a similar opportunity, since you’ve now given Google a way to group your content by topic.
4. Use markups
Schema.org offers a list of tags that you can use to give Google a general sense of what type of content you’re writing. Fundraising campaign aim at rewarding NSA whistleblower

In the eyes of the NSA Edward Snowden is a traitor, but that doesn't stop one Facebook employee Dwight Crow to open a fundraising campaign ''Crowtilt crowdfunding campaign'' for the man who leaked the NSA secret spy program, thereby not allowing them to destroy privacy and internet freedom of Americans.According to Crow, the funds is to reward Snowden for his courage.
He takes a great deal of courage to do something of such. Crow started the fundraising campaign by donating $1000 of his own money. He doesn't care how Snowden spend the money, but just what to say a big thank you!
Meannwhile, Edward Snowden is currently hiding in a Hong Kong hotel after he revealed the US Government secret spy program. He said in China. I quote “the city is commitment to free speech and the right of political dissent.”.

Guardian revealed identity of NSA Whistleblower as 29 year-old Edward Snowden

Edward Snowden Nsa29 year-old Edward Snowden, a former CIA technical assistant and current employee of Booz Allen Hamilton, to Daniel Ellsberg and Bradley Manning, has been revealed by the Guardian as the man who leaked the US government secret spy program, codenamed PRISM.

The Guardian revealed his true identity as requested by him since he believed he had done nothing wrong. According to him, he cannot sit and watch the US Government ruin the internet freedom and to disclose data of consumers. From what he said ''I'm willing to sacrifice all of that because I can't in good conscience allow the US government to destroy privacy, internet freedom and basic liberties for people around the world with this massive surveillance machine they're secretly building''.
Snowden is still holding on to his words, and said to reveal more about the NSA program.

Google to acquire Israeli Waze for $1.3 billion

Waze-app4According to my confirmed source, Google has put pen to paper to acquire Israeli traffic report firm and navigation app for iPhone, Waze for $1.3 billion, after a long battle with rivals Facebook and Apple.
It was reported last year that Facebook, Apple and Google were in talks to acquire the startup company. However, Facebook and Apple were not able to reach negotiations, obviously because of the price tag.
Apple dismissed talks that it wanted to acquire the Israeli traffic report firm. I quote Tim Cook words at the D11 conference ''we don't comment on rumour or speculation''.
Facebook screwed up the deal because it couldn't agree to the conditions of the deal which insisted that Facebook will allow Waze employees to continue working in Israel. Facebook did not accept it.
Google, unlike Facebook, agreed to the deal conditions by allowing the its employees to continue working for at least 3 years.
Interestingly, the deal will turn Waze founders into multimillionaires overnight as each Founder will receive not less than $65 million.

Techcrunch: lady loss friends because her phone is too big, I say she doesn't know how to use it.

Lost Girl   After reading Josh Constine of Techcrunch article about his trip experience in Singapore this week, I decided to air my views. From what he wrote, while in a night club, a lady went missing and they had to look for her. Unfortunately, they never saw her again. This wouldn't have been a problem if she had taken her smartphone with her, but to their regret, she left it behind because it was too big to fit into her pocket.

The whole episode made him brought up the issue of people using big phones instead of them having smaller phones that could do same functions as the big ones.
There is no doubt it makes perfect sense to have a portable phone, with which one can move around freely. But remember, every consumer has his own need and want. The choice to own a big smartphone is yours. Most of us go out with big phones because t we love to consume content. This is the main reason these phones are made for. The lady did not take the phone with her not because it was too big, but because she lacks the idea of how best to use it.
